Technical Information -

If you are a whiskey distiller, you've possibly heard of glycosidic nitrile (GN), or noticed more malts selling themselves as non-GN. Glycosidic nitrile is the precursor to ethyl carbamate, a carcinogen that turns up in whiskey. The first Homebrew Con in person since Covid hit was last week, June 23rd - 25th in Pittsburgh. It was great talking to homebrewers again, especially those interested in distilling! I was in attendance representing BSG Handcraft, Grainfather, and Still Spirits at our booth during the expo. I really enjoyed giving a seminar on brewing with ancient grains. Next stop on that journey for me will be distillation with ancient grains, so stay tuned.
